Guanajuato After Five

Guanajuato City, Mexico is the capitol of the state Guanajuato. It is a colorful, vibrant city beaming great food, amazing culture, and some pretty incredible views!

Bring great walking shoes, you can walk everywhere in Guanajuato but sometimes the cobblestone streets are a little uneven!

How to Get to Guanajuato

The closet airport to Guanajuato is the Del Bajío International Airport, located about a 20-30 minute drive outside of the city in between Guanajuato City and Leon.

Guanajuato is a walking city, and you can walk pretty much anywhere! If you get tired of walking, there are taxis everywhere as well as public buses.

Where to Eat in GuanajuatoL

Habibti Falafel // Delicious vegetarian restaurant serving amazing falafel wraps and other mediterranean eats. Make sure to try the homemade falafel- it’s delicious!

Los Campos Restaurante // A traditional Mexican restaurant started by a guy from Canada! The mezcal margaritas are a must try- delicious!

Santo Cafe // A cute cafe that has a balcony overlooking the street where you can people watch until your hearts content. Try the aztec soup!

Metate & Salmiana // The best rooftop restaurant where they grill up your food right in front of you. Go early for happy hour to get half off their delicious guacamole and sangria!

Estacion Gelato // Not quite a restaurant but they have the most delicious Gelato and desserts! Make sure you go up the tiny stairs to enjoy your gelato on the rooftop overlooking the city.

What to Do in Guanajuato

Row Your Boat at Presa De La Olla // A reservoir on the other side of Guanajuato where you can rent a row boat or sit at the dock restaurant and enjoy a beer while watching others paddle around on their row boats!

See a Concert at a Theater // There are lots of different theaters in Guanajuato that are putting on different types of concerts or symphonies. Check at Teatro Principal to get times/days of a show.

Visit Guanajuato’s Mummy Museum // The mummy museum is a must do while in Guanajuato. A little creepy but also interesting, the mummies were well preserved due to do climate in Guanajuato over the years.

Spend an Afternoon at Ex-Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera // A gorgeous sprawling estate where there are different gardens to explore and a place to sit and have a drink while enjoying the view

Take a Tour of the Mines // Guanajuato is an ex-mining town and you can go into the old mines to see where at one point 75% of the worlds silver came from!
