Air // To reach Rishikesh by air, you will have to fly to the nearest airport to Rishikesh. The nearest airport to Rishikesh is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. The distance from the Dehradun airport to Rishikesh is 21km and will take you about 30 minutes to cover. You can take a flight to the jolly grant airport from any major city in India. Once you land on the jolly grant airport, you can take a local bus to Rishikesh, or you can hire a private taxi. There are plenty of buses and private cabs available from the airport to Rishikesh.
Bus // Rishikesh is well connected by bus through Haridwar, Dehradun and Delhi. There are many buses available for these destinations to Rishikesh. The distance from Haridwar to Rishikesh is about 20 km and would take about 33 minutes to cover. The distance from Delhi to Rishikesh is about 239 km and would take about 6 hours to cover.
Train // The nearest railway station to Rishikesh is Haridwar, which is about 21 km and would take approximately 35 minutes to cover. Haridwar is connected via rail to all the major railway stations such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and other major cities. After you reach the Haridwar railway station, you can take a bus or taxi to Rishikesh, which are readily available at the Haridwar railway station.
Drive // You can drive down to Rishikesh from Delhi in your car. It’s worth considering driving to this holy city as it is well connected with national highway 58, which is in a smooth condition for most of the year. The drive from Delhi to Rishikesh would take approximately 6-7 hours.
I’always drive myself to get around the city. People can take local transpiration that are really cheap or book the Ola, Uber to get around the Rishikesh.
